Roman Rackwitz


Roman Rackwitz founded his first agency one year after finishing university. Before starting Engaginglab GmbH he worked for a development-aid agency that was doing good things in DR Congo, Africa.
With the founding of Engaginglab in 2009, he had been leading the Gamification movement in Europe. His main mission is to help Game Thinking to become a generally accepted approach for companies to improve user experience (UX) and employee experience (EX).

Roman's stuff

Roman Rackwitz is a German entrepreneur, speaker and authority in Gamification.
First known as Germany’s Gamification expert he moved on to expand the approach to a macro-level with the approach of Enterprise Gaming together with Centigrade GmbH, where he became the Enterprise Gaming Pioneer to build up a new division around this topic.

In 2012, together with Nicolas Babin, Toby Beresford and Niels van der Linden, Roman founded the world’s first Gamification federation GamFed (Gamification Federation).

What do the ares of Gamification and Social Media have in common? Both are looking for creating better and sustainable engagement. Therefore, with all of his experiences of more than 10 years of designing Gamification, within Engaginglab GmbH, Roman founded the division Rack.Social

At Rack.Social, they are helping companies to use Social Media as an opportunity to create relationships that are build on trust by offering help and be present with helpful content in the right time, instead of just pushing advertisement into the world.

Since 2013 Roman teaches the basics and the insights of Gamification at universities in Germany and Switzerland. His students learn how to go beyond the simple usage of extrinsic rewards. By reverse-engineering the science of fun they go deep into behavior psychology and Gamification methodologies to unlock the secret behind intrinsic motivations.

Together with Thomas Thomski and Oliver Rothstein, Roman co-founded Geheimtipp München (GTM) in 2017.
GTM is a social media agency focused on local companies, retail and events to connect their messages and spirits with the people living in Munich and surroundings.
